How to Throw a Knuckleball

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

How do I throw a knuckleball is a question that comes up on many ball fields every year. Players like to mess around with grips and the knuckleball is a fun one to play with. Now that R.A. Dickey has won the Cy Young award, I imagine we will see more knuckleballs when we watch players playing catch this year. So who better to explain how to throw the knuckleball than the man himself.

To get the effect of what the knuckleball looks like from the hitter's perspective, this video shows the knuckleball as it crosses home plate and slow motion video of the pitcher delivering the knuckleball.
