How To Plan A Baseball Practice

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version

Practice design is not as intimidating as one would think. However, for the novice coach, it may be a daunting task. Baseball Zone’s Practice Planner makes it quick and easy. We have a bunch of great drills and formats already in there for you to choose from. Just point, click and print.

Here is a quick template that touches on the most important aspects of a practice for the younger kids:

  1. Warm Up (10 minutes)
  2. Throwing (10-15 minutes)
  3. Individual Skills (30 minutes) 10 Minute Stations
    1. Ground balls, fly balls, pitching, etc
  4. Hitting (30 minutes) 10 Minute Stations
    1. A. Tees, wiffle toss, batting practice, etc
  5. End With A Game (10 minutes) Optional
    1. Base running, throwing, hitting, etc

This practice runs between 80-100 minutes. For the more advanced team, you can add team skills (Cutoffs and relays, bunt defense, 1st and 3rd situations, etc).
